In chapter V of The Way To Rainy Mountain by N. Scott Mamaday, the three voices are tied together by the importance of food to the Kiowa. The storyteller tells about the woman's quarrel with the sun and her digging up the root that she was told not to. It then talks about the sun striking her dead with a ring. This could talk about food because a person could be hungry and tear up a root and another person would get mad about that.

The historian points out that the Kiowa peope have always been a tribe of hunters. They get their food by hunting animals and not growing corn or other crops like their neighboring tribes the Cheyenne or Arapaho.

Even now the Kiowa people are still meateaters or hunters, Momaday says in his own voice. He then speaks of when he was a small boy and seeing the men and boys come in from the pasture and the boy eating a raw calf's liver from the calf that they had just killed. He says that "the old hunters of the plains prized the raw liver and tongue of the buffalo above all other delicacies."

There are many different types of food in this world. Some include meats, friuts, vegetables, and snacks. I like to eat a lot, so I eat everyone of these all of the time. However, I would say I eat the meats and snacks the most. When I do eat these 4 things I eat them 3 or 4 times a day as in breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and some snacks.

For breakfast I like to eat many different things. One food I like to eat many a time is cereal. i like all kinds of cereals; they are a sweet breakfast meal. Another food I like for breakfast is warm, cream-topped cinnamon rolls. I like them when they are fresh out of the oven and the cream is melted on top. Both of these make for a great breakfast.

Another meal i have daily is lunch. Lunch at school usually consists of some tasty pizza with nice melted cheese, and topped withe red pepperronis. I usually get that with some nice salted fries and warm cheese. Sometimes I get a warm chheseburger with melted cheese on top. All of these make a great lunch.

At supper I like to have a bigger meal than usual. In the winter I like to have something warmer, like chili. Anytime I like to have any kind of spicy mexican food or any kind of chicken. My favorite supper is my Grandma's delicious chicken and noodles. They are great because she makes the noodles herself, and they are great with her mashed potatoes. the chicken and noodles are a great homemade delight.

I enjoy food at anytime. All of my meals involve items I like. Eating things I don't like aren't usually in my plans. Although I eat a green bean or two everyonce in a while. I savor the food I love to eat.

Today and the Kiowa's day are related in food because we still hunt for some food and they hunted for all of their food back then. They were meateaters, and we are meateaters and farmers. That is how the Kiowa and we are related.
