Solar Eclipse - Monday, August 21st

On Monday, August 21st, there will be a solar eclipse.  Due to the potential danger if an individual looks at the sun during a solar eclipse, the Fayette County School Corporation is taking the following precautions:

  1. Outdoor activities between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. will be suspended.  These activities include outdoor recess and athletic practices.

  2. Students who do not participate in after school activities will be dismissed at their regular times. We will provide extra supervision as students exit school and we ask that parents and guardians remind students of the importance of not looking at the sun during the solar eclipse.

  3. Each school will discuss the safety concerns and precautions with students prior to the eclipse as well.  Please contact your school principal if you have questions or need clarification.
