Fayette County School Corporation is aware of the multiple bomb threats sent out to Indiana area schools. Fayette County Schools is not on the list and received no threats. We will continue communicating with local law enforcement as they monitor this situation. As always, FCSC is committed to our student's safety and education. Fayette County Schools will be closed Wednesday, January 25th. While we do not typically close our schools this far in advance of forecasted winter weather, our County is under a winter storm warning. There is a very high probability that we will receive significant amounts of snow throughout the morning. We have snow make-up days built into our calendar and we will make this day up on February 20th. Stay safe and enjoy the snow day!

Snow Day
As we prepare for the upcoming winter weather arriving on Wednesday evening, the latest forecasts are calling for the changeover to frozen precipitation after 6:00 p.m. Our plan is to keep school in session for a regular school day on February 2nd. As we evaluate things mid-morning tomorrow, my hope is that ice or snow arrives after all of our students are safely home, as forecasted. It is a very challenging decision to send students home early as that presents safety concerns when parents may not be home from work or other commitments. That decision to send students home early would only be made as a "last resort" when dangerous roadways are imminent. If this weather system develops as predicted, please keep in mind that we have two built-in snow make-up days in our calendar- Feb. 21st and April 18th. If we do end up closing school on Thursday and/or Friday, I hope our students can enjoy a safe and fun snow day!

FCSC Students, Staff, and Families: Our CMS administrators were made aware of a possible threat made by a student. Law enforcement immediately began an investigation. Both the city and county law enforcement agencies have been directly involved in this ongoing investigation. We do not take any threat directed towards our students, staff, or schools lightly and this situation has been turned over to law enforcement and our prosecutor at this time. As we do each day, we have a law enforcement officer onsite at Connersville Middle School and we have asked for additional police presence to help our students, staff, and families feel secure as we return to school on Monday morning. CMS will open on a regular schedule tomorrow and I want to reassure our families, staff, and community that the threat has been addressed to allow for the safe return of our students and staff. On behalf of the Fayette County School Corporation, I want to thank our city police department and sheriff's department for their support of our school safety initiatives and for their quick response to any emergency situations or threats that may arise.
